Capital Punishment Is Not A Longstanding Controversy Essay

Whether capital punishment is fair or not a longstanding controversy. Currently the punishment has still been carried out in some countries, such as China and the United States. Numbers of capital punishment in China is in the first place, compared to other countries (Sterbenz, 2014). However, 98 countries have abolished capital punishment (Amnesty International facts and figures on the death penalty, 2007). Although most of countries have no capital punishment to crimes, it is still argued whether it can decrease crime rate and other social issues. A moral issue is mostly considered to capital punishment. Now there is methodology of capital punishment that is a kinder way than traditional shooting or hanging. For example, in the United States, 37 states employ lethal injection to punish criminals, according to State by state Lethal Injection (n.d.). However, its nature is killing people, though their physical pain could be relieved to some extent. The vital thing to understand whether punishment is fair is to know how capital punishment influences criminals’ family, rather than victims’ relatives. One study is related to an actual event that the author experienced, so it could tell us more actual and deeper expression to capital punishment.
